Welcome!
Hi There,
Happy New year! Welcome to 2025 - your year to shine!
We have lots of things coming up this year - watch this space.
One thing that I will mention is that we will be tightening up our policies and procedures. We are doing this for 2 reasons - to ensure that we are compliant with the TASA and to get you up to speed and earning quicker.
Clear guidelines mean fewer delays and better outcomes for everyone. Stay tuned for an email detailing these updates.
In the meantime, let's get into it!
Office Closure
Remember the office will be closed until Tuesday 28th January.
If you have any urgent requests, please send an email to wegotyou@theaccountingacademy.com.au.
Software Recommendations
Imagine cutting your payroll onboarding time in half by automating data collection! Well, you're in luck!
I came across XOnboard the other day. It is a payroll onboarding software. I had a play around and it is a pretty smooth way of onboarding new clients for both yourself and your clients.
It streamlines the onboarding process by collecting general, tax and super information from the employee and pushing it to Xero. Once the data is collected, all you need to do in Xero is:
- Add employee to a calendar,
- Enter salary/wage information
- Set up leave
It is fairly new and there is a free subscription. I highly recommend you check it out if you do a lot of payroll, or even if you don't, it will make yours and your clients lives easier!
Note it is Xero only.

Marketing
I get a lot of questions about marketing!
The most successful people that have gone through the program built their business around the networks. Referrals are still the backbone of many accounting and bookkeeping firms, and it is usually a quick win as you get a very warm lead that is easy to convert.
It's not the only way though.
I am a fan of getting your face and your brand out there! Accountants are typically bad with marketing, but there are people that do very well out of it.
I'm not talking about the bigger accounting firms with massive budgets, but also some smaller firms are finding much success with marketing.
2 people that have done well are Natalie Lennon and Davie Mach.
They both have built their own, thriving, accounting firms and have gone viral on social media.
Davie has done a video on how he grew his business. I highly recommend you check out his journey.
You can check out Davie's video here.
Natalie is a TikTok gun and helps people grow their presence.
You can check out Natalie's TikTok here.
I have a challenge for you - create one blog, post it to your website and share it on your social media channels - be sure to select a relevant topic and include key words (words that people search for on Google).
Hint: Anything about deductions and increasing your refund does well.
In my experience, even 1 blog a week greatly increases the views on your website.
